Entrance

For prayers, Mass and Services, freely enter by the ‘Porta dei Fiori’ (North-side, Piazzetta ‘dei leoncini’).

 

Opening Times

The Basilica opens for prayers at 8 am each day, and closes at 7.30 pm.

 

Regular Mass and Services Times

Mass and Services are ordinarily celebrated by a canon of the Chapter of St Mark’s, while the Patriarch of Venice celebrates the main solemnities of the liturgical year.

Sacrament of Reconciliation

On weekdays 10am to 12 am and 6.30 pm to the end of the Mass; Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning (except during Vespers and Office of Readings).

 

Concelebrants

Priests desiring to concelebrate at any public Mass at Basilica di San Marco, are asked to come into the Sacristy 20 minutes before the Mass is due to begin. You’ll have to show your ‘celebret’ or letter of recommendation to the Sacristan to be admitted to concelebration.

 

Concerts

We don’t guest concerts.

 

Pilgrims

Pilgrims can ask to celebrate the Mass in a chapel of the Basilica writing to the Sacristy (sacrestia@procuratoriasanmarco.it).
 

Choirs of Catholic Churches and Institutions who would like to participate and sing at the Mass on Saturday (6.45 pm) and Sunday (8.30 am and 6.45 pm) can write to the Sacristy (sacrestia@procuratoriasanmarco.it). A letter of presentation from their Parish Priest and a hypothesis of four pieces they would like to sing, chosen according to the readings of the Mass and the liturgical season, will be required.
